Junior UX Researcher

Deep Silver Dambuster Studios - creators of the TimeSplitters series alongside Second Sight, Haze, Homefront: The Revolution and the number one smash hit Dead Island 2 - has an exciting opportunity for a Junior UX Researcher to join our highly talented GamesLab team.


As a User Researcher, you will bring your passion for games, empathy and curiosity to the table, collaborating with our Data Analytics team to provide clear insights into our users. You will design and execute high-quality research projects that inform the development of world-class games. This is a full-time studio-based role.


You will:

  • Take an empathic and curious approach in learning research methods and use cases.
  • Partner with the Data Analysis team to deliver insights about users that are clear, accurate, and practical for our internal studios, partner studios, and internal teams.
  • Assist in planning of and carry out high-quality research projects to inform the development of world-class games in a variety of genres, platforms, and technologies, such as AAA, mobile, liveOps, and VR.

Role overview

We’re looking for someone who is curious, empathetic, and has a passion and knowledge of gaming. You’ll get the opportunity to work on multiple games from different studios with different genres, and you’ll be contributing towards and evolving and iterative team. You’ll be working closely with a team of User Researchers; collaborating with data analysts and data scientists; and work in close partnership with producers and designers. To be really successful in this role, you’ll have a curiosity for research methods and the gaming industry as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, planning, and delivery of research studies.
  • Develop strong research competencies through working with and learning from teammates
  • Act as a representative of the lab and a research champion to maintain positive relationships with internal teams.
  • Conduct research activities, including moderating tests, observing users, analyzing findings, and preparing reports.
  • Discuss with Studio stakeholders and understand where projects in development may benefit from research
  • Stay updated on industry-wide research topics and methods and effectively communicate your findings to the team.

Requirements

  • Experience working independently and taking ownership of assigned work (Essential)
  • Degree in a related field (Psychology, Social Sciences, HCI) or relevant workplace experience (desirable)
  • A passion for Video Games and a strong understanding of the Premium, LiveOps and Mobile gaming landscapes (Essential)
  • You are proactive, problem-solving oriented and have a growth mindset. (Essential)
  • You have strong communication skills and are able to adapt your communication style to work well with different stakeholders across different cultures. (Essential)
