In a nutshell

Reporting to the Head of Payments this role will support in developing and maintaining the Payments strategy and roadmap for SBAFS, ensuring customer’s expectations are met or exceeded, whilst also ensuring that compliance is maintained with Regulatory and Scheme requirements. This will include working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the strategy reflects the wider business strategy and identifies supplier led and industry change.

What you’ll be doing

  • Monitor the customer payments journey, through effective analysis of the payments system trends, performance metrics, customer feedback and complaints.
  • Maintain relationships with key payment stakeholders across SBAFS Operations including Contact Centres, Support Functions and Payment Operations, reviewing trends of customer and colleague impacts to identify opportunities for continuous improvements and wider payment strategy.
  • Work closely with Risk and business functions including Outsourced Operations to ensure that the control environment is maintained across SBAFS and third-party vendors, including compliance with the Payment Policy Standard.
  • Review the system performance of payment systems and key disruptors to the customer journey to inform tactical and strategic improvements and define propositional improvements.
  • Maintain the Payment Policy Standard for SBAFS, ensuring that it remains up to date, relevant and support annual renewal and publication.
  • Work closely with Risk and business functions to support the completion of payment related PRCAs, review of controls and any subsequent treatment plans and regulatory submissions e.g. FCA Rep 018.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that the Bank complies with payment regulation and scheme compliance. Maintain a forward-looking view of mandatory and discretionary change being introduced in the industry.
  • Deputise for Head of Payments at external Industry meetings and internal governance forums and investment boards.

What you need to know and show

  • Experience and an understanding of payments is desirable.
  • Strong awareness of the technical and control environment within a financial services organisation.
  • Experience in managing both internal and external relationships.
  • Strong relationship management skills and proven ability to influence.
  • Strong awareness and understanding of Conduct Risk.
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
  • Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
