Position Statement

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Energy Manager who will be a key member of Hilton's EMEA Energy & Environment team and will be instrumental in securing affordable energy supply for hotels that supports carbon intensity reduction targets and ensures value for owners.
The Energy Manager will be responsible for managing utility performance and executing improvement initiatives across the EMEA estate (energy, water and waste) in line with Hilton goals, objectives and criteria. This will include developing reporting tools, advanced data analytics and benchmarks to support with utility management and procurement activities.
The role will involve management of utility contracts and energy and environmental programmes with active analysis of utility consumption and cost data and ensure consumption levels are minimized through effective training, control measures, management and behavioural change.
This role will be an expert in data analytics for all aspects of utility management, advancing the availability and accuracy of utility data across the EMEA region, and developing relevant business reports to visualize and demonstrate performance and progress to goals.

Position summary

General responsibilities cover (but are not limited to):
  • Develop, execute and manage EMEA energy, water, carbon and waste improvement programs.
  • Monitor and analyse energy performance data, conducting desktop audits to identify areas of inefficiency and potential cost savings.
  • Develop and deliver advanced analytics and data visualization tools to support energy strategy and services across EMEA region.
  • Build benchmarks and forecasts for existing and onboarding portfolio and provide verification of projects' feasibility.
  • Manage, review and consult on utility contracts (electricity, gas, water, CHP, district heating etc) to support with securing affordable and sustainable supply, based on data-driven analysis of energy markets and pricing trends, with a focus on reducing costs.
  • Manage the utility metering and invoicing processes, including auditing, query resolution and reconciliations.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics in connection with utility procurement, consumption and costs as required by area management.
  • Support the Engineering Operations team, hotels and other functions with utility cost control and energy, carbon, water and waste initiatives and projects.
  • Interact with hotels and corporate teams to induce change.

This position will on occasions require travel throughout EMEA, and will results in periods away from home.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified in an energy management, environmental or data science related discipline.
  • Significant corporate multi-site experience within energy management or energy consultancy required.
  • Advanced data analytics skills including Microsoft Power Query and Power BI or similar tools with a track record of utilizing advanced analytics to optimize energy usage and reduce costs.
  • Pro-active, self motivated individual, able to work independently and in the team, resilient and positive.
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to analyse departmental data, take initiative, identify priorities and make recommendations.
  • Ability to provide a simple explanation of energy matters whilst being able to discuss and direct complex issues with industry experts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization internally and externally
  • Ability to create robust targets and carry out continual performance reviews in the area of utility consumption and cost.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behavior and absolute discretion with sensitive information.
  • Good time management with excellent organisational, planning skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and be flexible to change activities to reflect the key business need at that moment in time.
  • Computer literate with excellent IT skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, etc.

Preferred experience

  • Proven / significant experience in energy management.
  • Relevant University degree or experience in lieu.
  • Experience working in multi-cultural or international settings.
  • Experience in energy procurement, risk management and trading is desirable but not essential
