About Our Client

My client, a Medical Device Manufacturer, are looking to hire a Head of Operations to provide technical and managerial leadership to operation activities. Having been bought by a larger group, they have the investment to take the business to the next level through continuous growth by consistently hitting record sales turnover.

Job Description

Management of the production plan:
  • Build strategic capabilities within the Operations leadership team to deliver and exceed annual budgets.
  • Through integration SIOP process, working with appropriate functions, find opportunities to "Do more with no more", helping to deliver a competitive differentiate to the business.
    • Build capabilities within the Operations teams to resolve issues to ensure meet and exceed goals.
    Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Embracing an Innovative mindset, to maximise the Operational team's capabilities, leading to a "Do more with no more" mindset.
    • Drive and inquisitive mindset within own teams, through robust daily meeting cadence and KPI metrics utilised through visible displays, driving decisions and finding opportunities to "Be better always".
    Compliance:
    • Drive a collaborative Culture with the Safety and Quality functions, ensuring all company quality standards, by ensuring all documentation, procedures and training packages align, with processes, premises and personnel qualified to the regulatory standards, as a core business activity.
    • Through collaboration with Quality function to manage all Quality records related to Operations, through a "Zero defect" Mindset.
  • Manage and own business continuity for the Operations function, with investment requested to mitigate via the CAPEX process.
    Financial management:
    • Forge a close relationship with the Financial Leads, ensuring daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial metrics are attained for all cost centre`s within Operational control. Ensuring recovery plans are in place where financial challenges exist.
    • Ensure a close relationship with Sales to realise "New Client" Opportunities, adding financial benefits, Investment and growth opportunities to the business.
    Talent and team management:
    • Creates an Operational organisation, competently trained and capable to meet business and customer demands. With all personnel involved in the performance management processes.
    • Creates an environment where talent is identified, attracted, motivated, deployed and retained. Acts as mentor/coach for talents within the area to enables exceptional performance.
    • Act as a role model,, promoting the wider business values and culture.
    Interaction and Influence:
    • As a member of the Site Leadership Team, contribute to the definition and execution of the overall business strategy.
    • Be a role model to everyone on the site, inspiring and creating an environment of success.
    • Strong influence on site decision making, also in terms of feasibility assessment for production activities.



The Successful Applicant




QUALIFICATIONS


  • Educated to degree level is desirable in a relevant field such as science or technology, with an understanding of the operation of manufacturing businesses.
  • Lean Six Sigma, ideally to black belt qualification is desirable

EXPERIENCE - essential


  • Hands on leadership, motivation and development of a large operations team.

  • Strong technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing, quality control and supply chain/logistic processes.

  • Working and operating as part of a senior management team to develop and deliver strategy

  • Budgetary control responsibility, with a proven track-record of ensuring compliance with agreed targets.

  • Project management including planning, execution and managing projects in a manufacturing environment.

  • Financial acumen - used financial metrics to manage a manufacturing operation.

  • Safety and regulatory compliance, managed safety and regulatory compliance (GMP) within a manufacturing environment.





EXPERIENCE - desirable

  • Continuous improvement, managed CI through Lean or Six Sigma to drive process improvements and increase efficiency.
