Job overview

The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) will be a new, purpose-built 70-bed facility which will be built on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough, delivering a centre of excellence to improve rehabilitation services in England. It is co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. Thanks to an academic partnership led by the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University, research and innovation and training and education in rehabilitation will be embedded at the NRC and central to clinical practice.

We are looking for an innovative and driven clinician from any background to join the NRC team to deliver senior leadership over the next 12 months of the programme, reviewing the patient pathway and identifying service improvement opportunities prior to the NRC opening.

Main duties of the job

Improvement and Transformation is integral to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts. It is how we are improving quality, safety & value for money and is our thoughtful response to the challenges we face. The NRC programme will redesign services, widen access for patients and, in conjunction with HEE, develop a core skills set around rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with the NRC planning team to help guide and shape important developments in the existing service, which will become important aspects of the operation of the NRC.

Specifically, the post holder will aid the successful delivery of NRC service transition through key rehabilitation improvement projects. This will be through both personally leading work and, supporting existing teams, the director of operations and medical and AHP lead to deliver projects. The projects maybe Clinical or Non Clinical and cover a variety of deliverables including operational performance , financial performance, service issues, clinical quality improvement and workforce development. The post holder will contribute to the development of the National NRC training academy, building a wide offering of training and education in rehabilitation.

The post holder will also provide line management responsibilities within the NRC team ensuring effective ways of working at all times.

  • Registered clinician with at least 5 years post graduate experience in relevant clinical settings
  • Educated to masters level or significant equivalent in similar Leadership role
  • Evidence of post registration education in specialist clinical areas

  • Knowledge/experience of project management

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
