THIS POST IS CURRENTLY AWATING ROYAL COLLEGE APPROVAL.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have an annualised job plan which will ensure that time off during the working week is provided in lieu of that worked out of hours. This will include dedicated time on the Hepatology ward (QMC campus), delivering Hepatology outpatient services and contributing to advanced care planning and transplant Hepatology services at NUH. There will also be time dedicated to the emergency gastroenterology service. The post holder will have designated administrative support and work across both QMC and Nottingham City Hospital campuses.

Working for our organisation

The NUH Hepatology service is supported by 16 specialist nurses (10 WTE) with areas of expertise that include Haemochromatosis, End of Life Care, Liver Transplant, Stable Cirrhosis, Viral Hepatitis, HCC, Pancreatic Cysts, Paracentesis, Neuro-endocrine tumours and Hepatology related education.

A separate Alcohol Care Team provides 7 day inpatient alcohol support, in conjunction with community providers and dedicated alcohol support outpatient clinics.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Inpatient duties will be based on the 28 bedded Hepatology ward at QMC and shared across the 10 Hepatology consultants in blocks of 2 or 3 weeks.

Two hot Hepatology clinics are linked to inpatient blocks, providing urgent new, admission reduction and post-discharge appointments, supported by a Hepatology nurse specialist.

The post holder will be expected to deliver Hepatology outpatient clinics which will be tailored to the post holders expertise.
