We’re currently recruiting for a Category Manager to join our Procurement team to provide proactive specialist procurement leadership and expertise to a category and/or commodity within the business to achieve the most advantageous commercial outcomes in terms of both risk and value.

What are we looking for?

  • Category manager specialising in Facilities Management procurement & contracting
  • Actively support the business through all steps of the procurement process to ensure best value for money is achieved and all risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to establish and, where appropriate, vary the contract, including changes to price, terms and conditions and service agreements.
  • Ensure all negotiated contract terms are documented and that they meet the requirements of Phoenix technically, financially and legally.
  • Produce sourcing deliverables within agreed timescale, to required quality and within budget.
  • Ensure a robust documentation and audit trail is in place for all procurement projects in compliance with department best practice and Group policies, and that databases are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Lead, assist and support the development and maintenance of procurement processes, procedures and tools, and support Supplier Relationship Managers in their management of key suppliers to ensure excellent sustained performance.
  • Conduct regular supplier commercial reviews, identifying areas for discussion or attention. Actively manage nominated suppliers to ensure excellent sustained performance levels, best value for money and risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Diagnose and evaluate potential risks and issues throughout the contract life cycle. Define and execute plans to mitigate these and report status regularly to the appropriate committees and stakeholders.
  • Advise the business on efficient and effective commercial strategies, provide recommendations on how supply chain performance can be improved, and be seen as a ‘Trusted Advisor’ by building positive and collaborative working relationships.
  • Develop and implement Category and/ or business strategies to maximise the commercial benefit with key customers and business units, building effective global relationships to manage core, common and distinct requirements.
  • Leading and influencing business areas through partnership, ensuring the correct levels of participation and collaboration to achieve the best value outcome when there may not always be buy-in or a sufficient level of understanding.
  • Challenging internal stakeholders to ensure that requirements are accurately specified to the appropriate level of detail when stakeholders may not know exactly what they want or need.
  • Developing and maintaining broad knowledge of relevant supplier marketplaces and Phoenix’s direction and products to enable identification and assessment of commercial risks and opportunities.

Essential

  • Education - Undergraduate Degree (or equivalent)
  • Facilities management expertise

Desirable

  • Financial sector experience
  • Certification - Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
