Join our qualifications team, a key part of our highly regarding training and learning function.
Our training and learning function is fundamental to the HR and strategic workforce planning agenda for the council. Our priority is to provide the workforce of the council; and its partners with a range of high-quality training, learning and development interventions, linked to the council priorities, realising a culture of learning throughout the organisation.
We are currently looking for maternity support. So, if you have a Level 3 or Level 4 Vocational Qualification in Adult Health & Social Care and would like to join our team, we will work with you to obtain a formal assessing qualification.
We envisage that it will take approximately 6 months to achieve this qualification and you will receive full wrap around support along the way to ensure your success.
The role…
As an Assessor Coach, you will be working with our Health and Adult services directorate to deliver their standalone Level 2 & 3 Diplomas. You will play a key role in deciding on learner/candidate occupational competence and recommend the awarding of qualifications, in order to facilitate training plans, ensuring an appropriately qualified workforce as well as contributing to the continuous professional development of the workforce.
You will achieve this through assessing a designated caseload of learners/candidates and liaising with service area managers, training and learning team colleagues, workforce development advisors, services and portfolio leads.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the assessment and completion of vocational qualifications by an agreed caseload of candidates, including apprenticeship standards content
- Plan and implement assessment strategies with each learner/candidate that will maximise opportunities for timely and successful achievement of designated qualification
- Identify and acknowledge training needs which arise during the assessment process
- Judge competence against qualification criteria and make recommendation on the awarding of qualifications, subject to internal quality assurance process
What you will bring
In order to be successful, you will have excellent communication and customer care skills, suitable for dealing with a range of internal and external customers in a busy team, as well as being an excellent team player. You will undertake a wide range of administrative tasks, which will include word processing and data input using Microsoft Office and bespoke systems i.e. OneFile.
Prioritising and organising your own workload and being driven by working towards high standard and deadlines whilst adhering to defined business processes and ensuring attention to detail will be key to your success.
In return, you will be fully supported through a structured induction programme including in house training and shadowing experienced members of staff. As the role requires a flexible and agile approach, there is flexibility available around hours worked and work base.
Key attributes:
- Up to date knowledge of awarding organisation requirements and standards for the awarding of qualifications
- Up to date knowledge of assessment strategies and a range of assessment techniques
- Occupational competence and knowledge at a level that meets or is higher than the qualifications being assessed
- Can analyse information presented as evidence of competence by learner/candidates and from this make sound judgements on how well qualification standards have been met
