The Integrated Laboratory Medicine (ILM) are deploying a new Laboratory Information Management System as part of a regional initiative. This is a significant programme of work for a critical service. Laboratory testing is key to patient care and needed in over 80% of patient diagnoses.

The ILM Directorate are on a quest for an enthusiastic Test Analyst on a fixed term 12 months appointment. You will be part of a large team of technical, scientific and clinical colleagues and support the test scheduling, co-ordination of test execution and defect reporting.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual experienced in working with business transformational projects to co-ordinate the system testing by the ILM subject matter experts. We require someone who is energetic, resilient and confident to work independently, able to take the initiative and keen to be part of a team. You will be an excellent communicator at all levels demonstrating a diligent, disciplined and creative way of working, who enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment, which is driving forward new technologies. You will be joining a friendly and supportive organisation with a team of colleagues who all share a passion for patient care and desire to develop improved and innovative ways of working.

You will be required to work closely with the Project Manager and others within the ILM Project Management team, and liaise with staff and senior managers from the ILM and other Directorates.

The role is responsible for supporting all relevant parties in the Trust in testing the functionality of the proposed new Laboratory Information Management System.

The key tasks for this post are:
1. Working within the Testing Team, under the direction of a Test Workstream Lead, assisting with the scheduling and co-ordination of testing of the new LIMS system for the Trust, improving the quality of the system being delivered;
2. Support the Test Workstream Lead and team by performing administrative and functional tasks to assist and coordinate test activities across the Trust’s clinical and technical test process and nominated testers;
3. Tracking testing progress and completing the necessary test project controls provided to track progress and monitor where defects have been identified

The key skills required are:
1. Previous significant experience in supporting testing and delivery function in a complex and busy technical environment;
2. High organised and able to work under pressure prioritising work demands to meet critical deadlines often at pace as priorities change;
3. Methodical approach and high degree of accuracy;
4. Highly analytical and capable to assess priorities for review, including troubleshooting defects and related complex scenarios;
5. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative;
6. Clear communicator across a wide range staff levels drawn from technical and non-technical environments;

Experience in project management techniques, including document management skills.

Job Purpose
  • This post will require the post holder to work in the Test team under the direction of the Test Manager to demanding deadlines. The post will assist in improving the quality of systems delivered by IT by assisting the Test Manager with testing of new systems and changes to existing systems
  • The purpose of the role is to assist the Test Manager by performing administrative and functional tasks within the test process
  • Coordinate test activities between multiple delivery teams, arranging meetings, maintaining and following up action lists, raising defect reports on behalf of other teams where appropriate
  • Coordinate small department projects by keeping plans up to date, reporting to project management office, and liaising with other delivery teams to execute tasks
  • Complete Test documents including but not limited to test requirements, test entry and exit criteria, test scripts and test reports
  • Monitor and track progress of defects ensuring these are kept up to date in regards to schedules and status
  • Working with the Test Manager to prepare documentation for Project Gateways.
  • Assist Test Manager with system testing activities
  • Maintain professional relationships with users and peers to facilitate a productive dialogue relative to the Test Processes
  • Create and maintain documentation including keeping track of issues for future analysis
  • Update the eRecord regression testing suite as optimisations are tested.
  • Perform other duties and undertake special projects as requested by line management.
