Join the National Grid ESO innovation SIF team to deliver innovative projects with the potential to accelerate the transition to Net Zero.
At National Grid ESO, we ensure Great Britain has the essential electricity it requires, managing supply and demand to meet the needs of our nation. But we also have a clear mission: to decarbonise the energy system and bridge the gap to net zero. SIF is a funding mechanism to support network innovation that contributes to the achievement of Net Zero, while delivering net benefits to energy consumers and is expected to invest to invest £450 million in energy network innovation from 2021-2026, with the option to extend and increase as necessary.
That is why National Grid ESO has decided to build a team responsible for making sure the best innovation ideas are brought forward and are submitted for SIF funding for large scale projects. We will be doing this together with our partners and stakeholders to ensure awarded projects are delivered in a collaborative way that will truly aid the transition to Net Zero whist delivering value to the consumer. The world of energy is changing beyond recognition. Working at National Grid ESO, you won’t just be touching the lives of almost everyone in the UK – you’ll be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come.

Join us and you would be working on developing some of our exciting ongoing projects as well as guiding the business in figuring out where to invest next.

As the Electricity System Operator (ESO) for Great Britain we are in a privileged position. We sit at the heart of the energy system, balancing electricity supply and demand second by second. We keep the lights on and the electricity flowing directly to where it’s needed.
We are also thinking about where our energy will come from in the future and how we will operate a greener and cleaner system. One of the goals we have set for ourselves is to be able to run a zero-carbon electricity system by 2025. This will be instrumental in helping the UK meet its wider zero-carbon target.
This role closes on May 3rd, 2023, at 23:59, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary.
