We now have the opportunity for a role within the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) team. The post holder leads on the delivery of continuous learning from KAD’s Service Delivery and Engineering activities, as well as contributing to the implementation of innovative activities affecting HSQE policies, procedures and practices. This is as part of KAD’s ‘Next Platform’ safety programme and Restorative Just Culture.
Responsibilities
Produce high quality Learning Review reports for safety, performance, and security related events, and any other operations and engineering activities.
- Track and manage all safety related and other Learning Review recommendations and actions to closure.
- Responsible for managing the 48-hour incident reporting process to the client, ensuring quality control, adherence to process, and tracking/managing all associated activities.
- Produce innovative learning products for all stakeholder groups from Learning Reviews and other HSQE processes, which utilise modern communication methods and maximise learning from Service Delivery and Engineering activities.
- Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, practices, and all associated documentation relating to Restorative Just Culture, Learning Reviews and other HSQE processes.
- Work with Service Delivery and Engineering leaders to ensure the consistent application of KAD’s Restorative Just Culture policy and procedure so that employees are treated fairly and consistently when involved in safety related events.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of Normal Work Studies and HSQE Innovation Labs as part of KAD’s Next Platform safety programme. This includes setting up and leading projects to observe and record normal work, with specific activities like facilitating workshops, workplace observation, and conducting normal work research through internal and external subject matter experts.
- Work with the KAD Power BI team to ensure the Learning Reviews, Recommendations, and 48-hour report Power BI dashboards are maintained and enhanced. In addition, identify further applications for dashboards to enhance KAD’s capabilities to learn from Service Delivery and Engineering activities.
- Contribute to the development of training for new and ongoing safety innovations, and lead the delivery of training workshops, e.g. Restorative Just Culture and Normal Work Studies.
- Work with the HSQE team to develop innovative measures and metrics for safety, in particular focusing on effectiveness of safety risk controls.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across KAD and with the client to ensure effective learning and improvement from KAD’s Service Delivery and Engineering activities.
Key Skills
Essential
- Minimum of three A-Levels (C and above) or equivalent, ideally with some technical science, social science, or literature based studies.
- Demonstrable experience working in a frontline safety critical role, or; experience in a role that involves working with people, technical information, and writing high quality reports.
- Demonstrable knowledge and awareness of health and safety management practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to partner and build effective relationships with a variety of operations and engineering functions.
- A demonstrable curiosity and enthusiasm for safety, people, culture, learning about operations and engineering work, and improving systems and processes.
- Demonstrable experience in the analysis of information from various sources and collaboratively determining effective solutions.
- Ability to influence decision-making and behaviours to build effective relationships with colleagues from across the business, motivating managers and staff to participate in Next Platform activities.
- Ability to identify creative solutions to challenges, and to suggest, sell, champion and implement innovative solutions across the business.
- Must be at least an intermediate-level user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Recognised health and safety certificate / qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely).
- Some knowledge and understanding of progressive safety approaches such as Safety Differently, Restorative Just Culture, and Safety-II.
- Skills in video/animation production, publication design and other communication methods.
- Skills and experience in workshop facilitation and training delivery.
