About us

Charbel Blinds is an independently owned and operated family business based in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. The Company manufactures and supplies a comprehensive range of window coverings (blinds, shutters, curtains) via a combined high street showroom & workshop, with a mobile measuring & installation service. We are a small team, with colleagues expected to work hard & collaboratively to get the job done. The workload can be demanding during busier periods, so overtime is often available.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established window coverings retailer & manufacturer in a workshop based role. Your primary role will be manufacturing and assembling a number of different products ready for installation. There is also an element of planning and project management within the scope of the role. Please note: the role involves lifting fabrics and components that are heavy and/or long length, within the workshop itself and via a staircase to the basement workroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Cutting metal and fabrics to size, and assembling components into finished blinds, including motorised products.
  • Unpacking deliveries.
  • Checking and maintaining stock levels.
  • Ordering fabrics and components.
  • Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of window coverings, their suitabilities and practicalities.
  • Raising quality issues and warranty cases with suppliers to find a resolution.
  • General administration, including preparing and organising work sheets, etc.
  • A comprehensive understanding of child safety legislation (and ensuring compliance with, as part of the manufacturing process)
  • Quality control.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy environment.
  • Adhering to all health and safety requirements.
  • Waste management and recycling.
  • Supporting colleagues during busy periods, and during colleague absences.
  • Liaising with showroom colleagues to ensure an efficient and seamless service.

Essential

  • Basic DIY skills.
  • Experience in using both hand and power tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A good understanding of both metric and imperial measurements.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to problem solve. Competent at prioritising tasks and resources; able to use initiative, and exercise good judgment.
  • Able to work unsupervised, using own initiative, and as part of a team.
  • Practical, methodical and able to concentrate on routine tasks.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of using a sewing machine.
  • Experience of dealing with stock and/or ordering.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 18 per week

Salary: £12,500.00 per year
