Job Description

To support its growth plans the RSK Environment and Planning Division has created a Digital Solutions team with a remit to support business units across the division to leverage the benefits of the Office365, Power Platform and ArcGIS suites, building tools and applications and improving business process through automation.

We currently have a unique opportunity for a Junior GIS/Geospatial Consultant to join the team on a permanent, full time basis. The role would be well suited to someone with a background or particular interest in GIS, geography and the environment. We can offer flexible working patterns such as working from home, in a local office (UK wide), or a hybrid arrangement.

About the role

As a Junior GIS/Geospatial Consultant, you will work with and support the senior members of the Digital Solutions team. You will provide support to GIS and data projects performing typical tasks including; spatial application development, map production, data management and analytics, automating tasks, staff/client liaison and support development of best practice. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Digital Solutions team in delivering GIS, data, and development services to internal businesses
  • Support the development of mapping services and applications within ArcGIS Online
  • Develop data input forms and dashboards
  • Participate in user testing of developed solutions
  • Assist with the presentation of developed solutions to internal/external audiences
  • Utilise desktop GIS software (ArcGIS Pro/QGIS) to manage, process and transform data from multiple sources
  • Produce digital and static map outputs to support projects

Person Specification

  • Degree in GIS, Geography, Ecology, Environmental Science or a related subject is desirable
  • Some knowledge of GIS software, preferably ESRI or QGIS
  • Practical experience of creating, managing and analysing spatial data in GIS
  • Experience of ESRI software products, particularly ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Desktop
  • Experience of web-mapping and application creation using ArcGIS Online tools.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team
  • Project Management skills are desirable
