Job Description

Introduction

Evolve Facility Services was established in 2010 and is one of the largest in-house service providers in the UK, with offices in Widnes, Liverpool, Manchester, Carlisle and County Durham.

We’re proud to be part of The Riverside Group family, and look after around 80% of Riverside’s stock – that’s over 40,000 properties based across the North West and North of England.

Our Mission is to keep our customers’ homes safe, secure and well maintained – it’s what we do.

We’re now looking for a Technical Inspector to join our friendly team in Widnes to carry out quality assurance inspections of day-to-day responsive repairs for residential properties in the Liverpool City Region, ensuring all works are delivered to the required standards and in line with statutory, regulatory and compliance standards.

The difference you’ll make

You’ll play a crucial role in identifying non-standard or high risk repair works and will produce costings for required works in line with the agreed pricing framework, ensuring quality and commercial standards and value for money principles are adhered to, escalating for budget approval as appropriate.

You will also undertake quality assurance inspections of completed works, identifying shortfalls in statutory and regulatory standards, ensuring further repair works are planned and carried out until standards are met and customer expectations are managed appropriately.

You can accurately record outcomes of inspections, escalating the required information via agreed channels within set timescales and using agreed reporting tools, highlighting the programme of repair works required to mitigate risks identified.

So, who are you?

We're looking for someone with a proven track record of monitoring risk and health and safety compliance and carrying out inspections within a housing environment.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the National Housing Federation (NHF) Schedule of Rates for Building Works and knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).

You have a sound knowledge base of asbestos, legionella, building regulations, fire regulations, health and safety regulations and carrying out risk assessments within a housing environment.

A customer focused team player, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to work at all levels within the business. You will be willing to work flexibly to suit the business and use your initiative to propose solutions to issues identified.

Although not essential, a relevant qualification e.g. IOSH or HNC in Building, would be an advantage.

Enjoy the rewards

We’re asking a lot from our new Technical Inspector but this is a job that offers you the chance to really make a difference to our customers and the neighbourhoods you serve.

As part of the Riverside family, we’re focused on being an employer of choice, where people thrive and your voice is truly heard. You’ll enjoy competitive pay, and a wide range of benefits, including:

  • 20 days’ annual leave plus 8 UK bank holidays
  • A company van for business use
  • A defined contribution pension scheme
  • Maternity, Paternity and Adoption leave with enhanced pay (subject to eligibility)
  • Access to wellbeing benefits, such as our Employee Assistance Programme, Staff Groups and The Workplace Trust
  • Fantastic colleague discounts at a host of retailers

If you’re the kind of person that wants to do a really great job and make a difference to our customers and colleagues, we think you’ll love it here.

We recognise that our colleagues are our greatest asset and want every single person to feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. We encourage diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our colleagues. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities.
