Duties:

The electricians must have the following:

• Experience of undertaking works and testing activities within an industrial environment.
• Qualified to BS7671: IET 18th Edition Wiring Regs,
• AM2 Practical Assessment
• Appropriate NVQ level 3 electrician's course.

The Main scope of the work will take place at the following location:

• Turbine Hall
• Main Water Treatment Plant (MWTP)
• Gas Turbine House (GT House)
• Welfare Block
• Admin Building
• Transformer Pens
• Control Block
• Switch Rooms
• Cooling Water Jetty (CW Jetty)
• Gatehouse

Plant and Structures - South Site Islanding Cable Tracing and Cutting - OLDBURY

The Plant and Structures programme are starting a package of work to fully island the turbine hall, welfare block and admin block from all cables coming in and out.

In order to deliver this package of works, two FTE electricians are required for a period of 18 months to join the Plant and Structures team, working alongside Magnox staff.

Magnox specific 'competent person' training to hold a work permit will be given, as will Magnox specific cable cutting and live working training.

The electricians will be required to work Monday - Thursday as per site standard hours.

Overview

Oldbury Site is now preparing for de-planting and demolition of the South site demolition zone. This preparation includes activities which will allow Magnox Ltd to hand the area over to a contractor to act as Principal Contractor (PC) to carry out the required works to safely demolish the area to ground level.

All cables are to be cut in accordance with the safest possible practice, taking guidance from company standards and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. This will be achieved by removing electrical supplies to the area, and the creating a 'sterile zone' whereby all cables passing through the demolition perimeter have been cup and air gapped.

Initial surveys and approximations suggest there are 700 cables that enter the South site demolition area, these will be made up of: power, control and instrumentation, fire system, fibre optic and IT network cables. This proposal is to trace, identify and cut all cable where possible at both ends, and then in the middle of the cable at the boundary of the demolition zone.

All decabling will be performed under approved local work instructions, for the most part these will be approved Work Specifications E3126, E3127, E3140, E3143, E3229 or E3144.
