Are you interested in using your own body to train tomorrow's doctors? We are looking for men to join an innovative teaching programme.

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Teaching Associate within the Education Division team based in the School of Clinical Medicine on the Addenbrooke's Hospital site.

The principal purpose of this post is to teach 4th year medical students at the University of Cambridge how to perform a male genitalia and rectal examination.

After attending theoretical lectures and undertaking practice on plastic models, two students attend a 2 hour session with two Clinical Teaching Associates (CTAs) during which the practical and communication skills required to perform the male intimate examination are demonstrated. Students then each in turn practise these skills with the CTAs as patients.

Qualifications and Experience to include :

  • Ability to engage confidently with other people, putting them at their ease
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to pick up on verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Demonstrate awareness of the reality of people's concerns and fears: their own, the other CTAs and the students
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to rapidly absorb and process new information

University staff based on the Addenbrooke's Hospital site have access to a range of on-site facilities including a shopping concourse, swimming pool, sports and social club and food mall; car parking is available.
