Job overview
An ambitious orthoptist is invited to join our team at NUH due to the expansion of services, the role will support complex orthoptic and ophthalmic specialities. In addition to the core orthoptic role there is a requirement for the successful candidate to undertake a lead role within the service. The role is suitable as a full-time or job share.
NUH has an excellent reputation as a provider of clinical placements for orthoptic undergraduates, optometrists, medical students, post graduate medics and other health professionals and the post holder would be expected to contribute to this clinical teaching role and support other orthoptists in delivering their teaching responsibilities.
A Diploma/Degree in Orthoptics plus HcPC registration is required and experience as a clinical tutor would be advantageous.
As part of our commitment to provide the best care to our patients, we have extended services, this may include the ability to work various shifts including weekdays, weekends, bank holiday days and varying hours between 7.00am and 8.00pm to support the service as required.
Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be working with the multidisciplinary team in the Ophthalmology Department comprising of Orthoptists, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Technicians, OSPs, the nursing and admin teams.
Ophthalmology Services include eye casualty, day case, in-patient and outpatient facilities. It has strong links to the University of Nottingham through research and works closely with the regional Diabetic Eye Screening Service. We have a large team of Consultant Ophthalmologists, who provide outpatient and surgical services in a full range of Ophthalmology sub-speciality clinics.
The post holder will be required to work various shifts to support the needs of the service. This includes working weekdays, weekends, bank holiday days and varying hours with the earliest start time at 7.00am and the latest finish at 8.00pm. Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
